The fireproof mortar (or should I say putty) cos thats what its like to use/spread is very messy and tacky, and basically despite the name, nothing like mortar. Dont worry about making a mess on the oven wall brick faces as it will burn off later; that plus the fact you wont even see it once oven is completed
