The front arch is purely for decoration, and creates the void into which the logs will be stored for easy access. Note that the bricks had to be laid over the hardboard former, and that the bricks stand proud of the front so that when the whole oven is rendered, the bricks ends themselves will appear to step out for a more decorative look
